The Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) are the leading organisations that stand at the forefront of innovation and sustainability, steering Hong Kong’s construction and green building industries toward a resilient, and low-carbon future.
Since its establishment in 2019, the CIC Green Product Certification (CIC GPC) has served as an independent and voluntary product certification scheme for the local building and construction industry. After six years of operation, the CIC and HKGBC launch the CIC GPC 2.0, an enhanced version that aligns with current climate action trends and the evolving green product market.
The CIC GPC 2.0 introduces a comprehensive approach to evaluate construction materials/ building products by incorporating FIVE sustainability labels: Carbon, Resource, Environment, Performance and InnoSmart. This robust framework provides a transparent platform for all stakeholders to understand the sustainable criteria. It encourages the industry to source greener materials and products, while suppliers are motivated to adopt more sustainable practices in their manufacturing processes. By providing a credible certification scheme for construction/ building materials and products, CIC GPC aims to benefit the industry and contribute to a greener and low-carbon built environment.
